The Cumberland Valley Youth Rugby Association was
established in 2005 and now offers tag and tackle rugby programs, competition
and instruction for boys and girls ages 7 to 15. Children living anywhere
within Central Pennsylvania are welcome to join and participate.
Tag Rugby is an exciting blend of running, passing, kicking and scoring.
It’s a great way to stay fit over the summer. The object of the game is,
by running, passing, and kicking the ball, to advance and touch the ball down
in your opponent’s Goal Area (like an end zone). A score is called a Try,
worth 5 points. EVERYONE gets to pass, kick and run the ball and to
score. Rugby combines the fitness of soccer, the evasive running of
football, the passing of basketball and is very easy to learn. Give rugby
a try! Vacation plans are not a worry as we add extra players to
every team to account for expected absences.
CV Youth Rugby also offers an Introduction to Tackle Rugby for boys and girls in grades 6
to 9 where safe play is emphasized as the players learn to play by the same
laws (Rugby 7s) as were played in the Summer Olympics.
Practices and matches will take place at Hampden Park in Mechanicsburg.
